The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has flagged posts circulating on social media purporting that Lugulu Girls' High School's KCSE results have been released.

On Wednesday, January 15, rumours spread that the prestigious national school had finally received its KCSE results after they were initially withheld.

The images and posts on social media claimed that Lugulu Girls had scored a mean grade of 10.2265 in the KCSE and that all students had achieved the cut-off grade to directly join institutions of higher learning.

However, KNEC, in a statement on their official social media handle, dismissed the images as 'FAKE'.

Lugulu Girls is one of five schools whose KCSE results are facing uncertainty. St. Peter’s Abwao Secondary School in Migori County, Mama Malia Academy in Kitui County, Kipsingei Mixed Secondary School in Bomet County, and Katilu Boys High School in Turkana County also had their results withheld.

KNEC's post was the latest development in the wave of uncertainty surrounding one of the country’s most prestigious girls' schools, known for its academic excellence.

On January 9, 2024, when the KCSE results were released, the Bungoma-based school was shocked to see its results withheld, while other top national schools celebrated exemplary performances.

On Friday, January 10, the school’s administration sought to alleviate concerns from students and parents by assuring them that the results were being pursued through the official appeal channels with the council.

"Dear parent/guardian, we are aware that your child has not yet received the examination results. Please rest assured that the matter is being addressed, and the results will be made available to you in due time," a message from the Lugulu Girls' administration to the parents read.

On Saturday, January 11, Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa dismissed allegations that Lugulu Girls' KCSE results had been cancelled.

According to the legislator, he already contacted Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, who informed him that the school’s results were withheld for further verification.

Barasa further vowed to conduct a follow-up on the process, adding that once the verification process is over, all the 2024 candidates at Lugulu Girls would be allowed to access their results.
