Police officers based in Nairobi's Huruma Estate on Tuesday, January 21, arrested a 29-year-old man over the alleged murder of his 19-year-old wife.
According to a police report, the suspect was arrested within the Kelly Towers area while carrying a bag on his back. Upon searching, the officers found human body parts stashed inside the bag.
During the interrogation, the suspect confessed that the body parts belonged to his deceased wife. Following the revelation, the officers were compelled to visit the suspect's house for further interrogation.
While conducting the investigations, the officers reportedly found more dismembered parts of a human body beneath the suspect's bed.
The officers also recovered a blood-stained kitchen knife suspected to have been the weapon used to end the woman’s life and female clothes which the police believed belonged to the deceased.
Addressing members of the public moments after the preliminary investigations, the officers revealed that they also found the floor of the suspect's house with stains of blood.
Following the puzzling discovery, the victim’s body parts were moved to Nairobi City Mortuary awaiting identification and a postmortem analysis.
According to the officers, the motive of the murder is yet to be established. However, the suspect is currently under police custody awaiting arraignment.
"The motive of the murder is yet to be established, but the suspect is in police custody. The case is pending before the court vide CR 126/12/2025, with Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) officers from Starehe dealing," the officers said.
The latest incident echoes a similar murder case witnessed five days ago where a man reportedly stabbed his wife to death in Nandi County before taking his own life.
According to the police, the man reportedly killed his wife on Monday, January 15, after ambushing her at her parents' house hours after they engaged in a quarrel.
Moments after stabbing his wife several times in the chest, angry villagers while hunting for the man, found his lifeless body lying 100 meters from where she had killed his wife.
