Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has launched a scathing attack on Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Raila Odinga a day after he was kicked off the National Assembly Committee on Regional Integration.

Salasya took to social media on Thursday to call out the former Prime Minister for reportedly being behind the high-profile reshuffles.

"I was removed from the committee on regional integration and placed in the broadcasting and library services and taken back to welfare and food in the cafeteria. Raila is telling the people that he is consulting, he is a selfish man," Salasya stated.

"We want to tell Raila that the days when you kept creating tension and people used to guess your political moves wondering what you were planning are gone. There is no plan, we know you."

Reflecting on his early days in the Azimio la Umoja coalition, Salasya stated that it had become evident that all Raila wanted was a seat at the table by pursuing talks with President William Ruto.

Beyond criticising Raila, Salasya also took aim at his colleagues in the National Assembly, alleging that the legislature had lost its independence and was now under the control of the executive branch of government.

However, the outspoken lawmaker asserted that being removed from the high-profile committee would not deter him, vowing to continue fighting for his constituents.

“I want to tell those Members of Parliament who think that removing us from committees will stop us from delivering development—it will not happen, because I am a good planner,” Salasya declared.

“With the available CDF and proper management and supervision, we will still emerge among the top performers in this country.”

He ended his impassioned rant by calling for a constitutional reform that would remove political interference in the formation of committees and only have members selected on merit.

Salasya was among several MPs removed from committees, including Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, who was demoted from his position as Chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee to serve as an ordinary member.

Those most affected were vocal allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who were reassigned to less influential committees. Among them was Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, who was removed as Chairperson of the Constitutional Oversight and Implementation Committee and reassigned to the Members' Services Committee.

Others who faced similar demotions included Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia, Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, and Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo.
