The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially opened its placement portal for the September 2025 intake to Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs).
In a statement on X, KUCCPS said the student portal is open for applications to the teacher colleges from March 6.
“The Student's Portal is open for application to Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs), September 2025 intake,” reads part of their statement.
According to the notice, the portal will close on March 20, giving applicants two weeks to apply for the posts.
KUCCPS invited applicants seeking a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education or a Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education. The authority did not indicate how many openings are available.
The announcement of the openings comes as the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) unveiled its 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, projecting the recruitment of 211,870 teachers over five years.
Last month, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced that university intake for September would be opened in March 2025.
In a press statement, Ogamba stated that the portal would be opened to allow students to apply for their preferred courses.
"In keeping with the annual placement calendar, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) will open the placement portal for the September 2025 university intake in March 2025," Ogamba announced.
In response to concerns about changes to cut-off marks for university admission, Ogamba clarified that the government has not reinstated cut-off points for entry to universities.
The CS assured the public that all 246,391 students who qualify for direct entry will be admitted to universities.
"The minimum admission requirement for university, which will apply to the 2024 KCSE cohort, is a mean grade of C+ (plus). Therefore, all 246,391 students who attained a mean grade of C+ (plus) and above qualify for university admission," the CS added.
Insisting, "The Ministry projects that if all 246,391 candidates join university, Ksh25.85 billion will be required to fund their education annually. The Ksh100 billion projection represents the total cost over a four-year period."
