Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday, March 17, made a startling revelation on alleged demands made by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to President William Ruto before they signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with Kameme FM, Gachagua claimed that Odinga had come up with demands, including more Cabinet Secretary and Principal Secretary positions for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party members.

"For Raila to support the President, he demanded six cabinet positions just the way we had asked for eight positions in exchange for our votes because that is how a government operates," Gachagua revealed.

In a more damning revelation, Gachagua claimed that bigger changes were imminent as the process of restructuring the principal secretary positions had already kicked off.

According to Gachagua, most of his supporters from the Mount Kenya region would soon face the axe to pave the way for the new PSs who will reportedly be Odinga's supporters.

"On Friday, Raila and the President spent the whole day together with Felix Kosgey planning how to reshuffle the PSs. We had negotiated a total of 15 PSs in our agreement with at least one PS from each of the counties and two in Meru, Kiambu, Laikipia, and Nyeri counties," Gachagua revealed.

"Raila is asking for 15 PSs. I have been told he is being given ten. William Ruto is planning to chase away our people. When I was DP, I would try to stop him from such and that is why he disliked me and called me tribal."

Furthermore, the former DP expressed his dissatisfaction with politicians from the Mount Kenya Region affiliated with President Ruto failing to intervene and stop the overhaul as it would affect the entire region.

Citing the overwhelming support that the Health CS Deborah Barasa received after rumours spread of her planned ouster, Gachagua noted that these leaders from the Mount Kenya region were also in a position to rally behind the PSs.

"I don't know if we are bewitched or it is the money from President William Ruto that is making our men and women crazy. People are planning for our PSs to be kicked out and our people are just silent," Gachagua lamented.

Among those he faulted for not addressing the issue and stopping the impending firing was his successor Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
