Update: 2:20pm - Three people have been confirmed dead after a four-storey building under construction in the Kisii, Itierio area collapsed on Sunday, April 6.
According to reports, two victims were found under the rubble, while another victim died en route to the hospital. Additionally, 4 people have been injured following the incident.

"Kisii County emergency rescue teams have arrived at the disaster scene at Iterio, Suneka, where scores are feared trapped inside a neighbourhood after the collapse of a storey building. Businesses around the neighbourhood have been affected, with reported looting going on," said a report.

Currently, excavators from the Kisii government are on site to rescue several people feared trapped.
The report comes three days after occupants of an 11-storey building in Mombasa, near the Coast General Hospital, were evacuated after cracks appeared in the building, sparking fear of a collapse following heavy rains that have pounded the region over the last few weeks.
The evacuation was overseen by the Mombasa County Officials alongside the National Security teams led by the Coast Regional Commander, Ali Nuno.
According to the Mombasa County Fire and Disaster Chief Officer Ibrahim Basafar, authorities were compelled to act after the building's basement caved in.
The residents were evacuated at night, and the building is said to have been under construction despite being occupied.
'You see this here; one flow has already carved, including the basement of the building. Already the building is slanted, and if you closely observe, the structure did not go up with the right dimensions," he said.
A preliminary assessment indicated that the building was constructed without following the proper guidelines.
Given the building's proximity to the Coast General Hospital, authorities also raised concerns about the immediate risk posed to the hospital.
Officials warned that if the structure collapsed, it could potentially impact the hospital.
