Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a scathing response after a church service he was attending in Mwiki was subjected to chaos on Sunday, April 6.

In yet another scathing attack directed at his former boss, Gachagua blamed the chaos witnessed at Mwiki PCEA Church on President William Ruto and Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja.

While describing the attack as 'insensitive and unkind,' Gachagua slammed the president for allegedly sponsoring goons to infiltrate a church, saying the attacks on him had reached a different level.

"My President. What happened to you? In a church? You have reached a different level. You sent me goons in Limuru last week, you sent goons to Nyeri, and now you've sent them to church. You have become bold," the former deputy president lamented.

Gachagua further accused the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Kenya Police Service of deliberately failing to uphold security at Mwiki, despite their obligation as per the Constitution. According to Gachagua, the police were under specific instructions not to provide security to any of his events.

He added, "We are aware the DIG said no police should come, but I appreciate that some officers came."

"Which is strange because you visited Mt Kenya and no one frustrated you. The way you've welcomed, you should also afford us the same respect wherever we go. When you want to pursue us, don't pursue us in church."

As a parting remark to the president, Gachagua claimed that the president's relationship with the PCEA church was irreparably damaged.

The chaos on Sunday saw security officers associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua fire into the air to disperse hundreds of youths who had stormed the PCEA Kasarani East church.

According to reports, the security officers linked to the former DP acted after the youth stormed the church, allegedly demanding cash payments for them to attend the event.

Gachagua's sentiments were echoed by a number of Members of Parliament at the church service, including Embakasi Central lawmaker Benjanim Gaithiru and Starehe MP Amos Maina, who reiterated that the Nairobi governor was the mastermind behind the attack.

"The message I'm sending to the governor is that this is unacceptable. He brought goons from Soweto, and I know that area very well. Just know you're going home," Gaithiru warned.

Meanwhile, the former deputy president maintained that his political vehicle was on course to be announced in May 2025.  Gachagua also plans to do another tell-all interview on Monday, April 7.
