Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has invited the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to visit the county and investigate her instead of relying on what she described as inaccurate information from critics.

Speaking on Tuesday, April 8, the governor emphasized that she was not afraid of the outcome, as it would ensure that the commission received accurate information about her performance.

"I want to urge the EACC and all the government agencies not to let people continue sending you information that is not true," she stated.

"If you have any information or need any clarification, or if you need to come to investigate, come to Machakos County. We will provide whatever you need so that you can know whether what you are being told is the truth or a lie. As the governor of Machakos County, I am not fearful," she added.

This invitation comes just a few days after Governor Wavinya Ndeti criticized her predecessor, Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua, urging him to stay out of Machakos County affairs.

In a heated statement on Saturday, the governor reminded Mutua that he was no longer the county boss and that his attempts at intimidation would not work on her.

"Mutua, you are not the governor of Machakos. Leave Machakos alone and let me run my Machakos," the governor warned.

"I am dedicated to serving the people of Machakos, and I will not allow anyone to sow discord through external political influence. I will not tolerate any schemes to derail my administration from the work we have committed ourselves to. I'm sending a strong warning to our detractors. Your plans will not prevail," she added.

Ndeti is currently facing an impeachment threat from Muthwani Ward MCA Dominic Maitha, who is allied to CS Mutua.

In a rebuttal a day later, Mutua appeared to distance himself from the fiasco, declaring that he would not be supporting any impeachment motions against governors in the Ukambani region.

He further called for peace and unity among the regional leaders to ensure development in the three counties and prevent past challenges from recurring.

"When I served as Machakos Governor and Kivutha Kibwana served in Makueni and Malombe in Kitui, we were always being fought. Our projects were being diminished. This meant that we were not able to serve our people as expected. Right now, I see that this is happening again in Ukambani," Mutua stated.

"I see all the speakers and the governors are on the verge of being impeached. When this happens, the rich who are disagreeing with each other will be okay, but the ordinary Kenyan will suffer. I want to urge the Ukambani leaders to maintain unity to bring development projects to Ukambani."
