Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has dismissed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's allegations that he handed Ksh2 million to the PCEA Church in Kasarani to silence it from speaking against the government.
Speaking during the Eldoret Pioneer DCC Women's Conference, held at AIC Koilebel Church on Saturday, April 19, Sudi accused the former DP of concentrating on petty issues instead of commenting on serious matters affecting Kenyans.
According to the vocal lawmaker, it was laughable how the former DP could call him out on minor issues, adding that Gachagua's impeachment was a result of such disrespectful comments.
"You know, this is why Gachagua is home. He was unable to lead Kenyans. I saw him stand and claim that I was sent with Ksh2 million to PCEA church to quell them," the Kapseret MP said.
He added, "I want to tell Gachagua that for your information, the work that I have done in church within Kapseret, you cannot do, if Mrs Dorcas leaves you, you are a big crook."
In his speech, Sudi recalled how he helped Gachagua acquire his previous position as the deputy president, adding that despite the aid, Gachagua lost his seat due to disrespect.
While hitting out at the former DP, Sudi promised to continue with his church donations despite criticism, further reiterating that it was better to give than to receive.
"I want to tell all those who are feeling bad and are in pain that we give to churches to forgive us, because we have no other way of giving what we have to the church. We must give our offerings to the church," Sudi stated.
Sudi's response comes barely a week after Gachagua took a swipe at President William Ruto's administration, claiming the current regime was out to silence the church.
Speaking in Machakos on April 15, Gachagua alleged that the government recently dispatched a team to stop churches from speaking the truth against the current regime.
He went on to add that in one such incident, Sudi was sent with Ksh2 million to stop the PCEA Church in Kasarani from criticising the government after an attack by hired goons.
"These people are rude; they are sending people to desecrate the altar, inside the church, so that the PCEA Church can be silenced, and they sent Sudi with Ksh2 million to silence the church. Let us respect the church and let us honour the altar," Gachagua claimed.
