Cabinet Secretaries across various ministries have announced new appointments under their dockets as part of the broader strategy to enhance service delivery and address emerging challenges.
According to a gazette notice published on May 2, Energy and Petroleum CS Davis Chirchir appointed Daniel Mugao to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Ports Authority.
While announcing the appointment of Mugai for three years, Chirchir revoked the appointment of Emmanuel Kibet, who landed the position in January 2023.
At the same time, Labour CS Alfred Mutua appointed Mercy Kavayi to be a member of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, for three years beginning May 1, 2025.
The Labour Minister appointed Kavayi to replace Elizabeth Chesang, whose membership was revoked following her appointment to the position in June 2023.
Similarly, Education CS Julius Ogamba made three key appointments to his ministry. He appointed Christopher Rutto, Martin Mungai and Seraphine Jepkosgey to be members of the Council of the Ol’lessos National Polytechnic for three years.
To further improve service delivery within counties, Kisumu Governor Any'ang Nyong'o appointed Charles Otieno to be the County Executive Committee Member for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development.
Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu appointed nine people to be members of the Central Sub-County Alcoholic Drinks Regulation and Control Committee for three years.
He appointed Charity Lemein, Kennedy Mwangome, John Matara, Erustus Mutuku, John Kiu, Joseph Moitalel, Regina Muthoni, Simon Kantet and Joshua Nerrishet to the committee.
Additionally, Madera Governor Adan Khalif appointed Rashid Haji, Maalim Ibrahim, Mohamed Abdi and Issack Hassan to be members of the Board of Elwak Water and Sewerage Company Limited.
Meanwhile, the appointments come two weeks after President William Ruto advised government officials to focus on service delivery to Kenyans and not the sideshows that usually come with high office.
Speaking during the swearing-in of two CSs and 14 PSs at State House, Nairobi on April 17, the Head of State urged cabinet members to concentrate on delivering on the mandate in their respective ministries and State departments and not to be swayed by any distractions.
“It is the coming together of the willing, not to serve the parochial interests of a few leaders, but the greater good of Kenya. I have made the conscious decision to implement decisions that need to move Kenya forward, irrespective of the price to be paid,” Ruto said.
