Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka claims that there is a plot to apprehend the Trans Nzoia Governor, George Natemebya, tomorrow, on Monday, May 19.

Speaking in Machakos on Sunday, May 18, Kalonzo claimed that the Ethics and Anti-graft Commission (EACC) had been granted a search warrant, in which he claims that the detectives will go search his properties, apprehend him, and then later release him.

According to Kalonzo, the plot to apprehend the governor has been fabricated with the aim of tarnishing the Governor's name.

"If you are the governor and you don't toe the line of those in leadership of the highest level, they will send EACC after you, but I want to say that the commission should not be used," he said.

"Governor Natembeya is threatened as we speak, and on Monday, which is tomorrow, they have obtained a search warrant to go and search his house. They just want to apprehend him and release him so that they may embarrass him before the people of trans Nzoia," he said.

According to Kalonzo, the Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) leader, Eugene Wamalwa, will do everything possible to prevent the apprehension from happening.

The past few months have been rough for the Governor. The Nandi Senator, Samson Cherargei, called for the impeachment of the governor, claiming that he was unfit to steer the county government of Trans Nzoia and that he was conducting tribal politics.

"Governor Natembeya should be impeached for stoking tribal animosity, division, poor development, and graft allegations. These offences are impeachable under the Constitution of Kenya 2010 for violating Articles 10, 27, 73, 74, 75, and 174," Cherargei stated.

In his defence, the governor, on Friday, April 18, claimed that the Senator should focus on the affairs of his county and refrain from tarnishing his leadership.

"I don't understand why a senator belonging to Nandi County is meddling in the affairs of Trans Nzoia. Let Cherargei focus on his county. We are aware that he and the governor are not seeing eye to eye. The other day, he was grappling with Murkomen, and they took each other to court,'' Natembeya said.

On the other hand, Kalonzo has further castigated the alleged apprehension of Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya, claiming that these are efforts to restrain Kenyans from exercising their freedom of expression.

Salasya, who recently announced his presidential bid, was allegedly nabbed by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at the Isiolo-Nanyuki road after addressing a rally in Isiolo on Friday, May 16. According to Kalonzo, the MP is being held at the Nairobi Central Police Station.

"They have apprehended Peter Salasya because of speaking his mind, and right now he is in the Central Police Station, and they have absolutely no charges against him that they can put against him," he stated.
