A woman from Busia is now claiming to be Mary, Mother of Jesus, in the flesh.
Judith Nafula, a devoted Catholic from Nangoma village in Matayos constituency declared herself the Holy Mother, claiming to have received the Holy Spirit.
Nafula told NTV that a light with Jesus at its centre descended from heaven and that Jesus identified her as Mother Mary, noting that it had been a secret.
“A light came down from heaven, and in the middle of it was Jesus. He spoke to me, asking me where Mother Mary was and that he had been sent by his father, God,” Nafula stated.
“I responded to him, saying I did not know who Mother Mary was. He revealed that it was me and that it was high time people found out my true identity,” she added.
Nafula stated that after the interaction, she was led to a nearby hill where she resided for two months, conversing with the Holy Spirit.
In a surprising twist, the same vision that came to Nafula was experienced by her husband, John Wekullo, who claimed he had been declared as Joseph, the Biblical spouse to Mary.
Notably, Nafula claims to have received the ability to do miracles, something that her local church took offence to and subsequently disbanded her.
“They started saying that I was a mad person, that I had lost my mind, and they threw me out of the church,” she narrated.
However, the interesting spectacle was not lost amongst the locals and people from neighbouring areas who flocked to her homestead for prayers and blessings.
According to her relatives, Nafula’s following has grown exponentially, with some of them validating her ability to perform miracles.
“People have started knowing her and admitting to her ability to perform miracles. We are seeing people coming back; those who could not conceive have been able to conceive, and the sick have been healed,” noted Nafula’s sister in law.
Cases of people claiming to be supernatural figures like God and Jesus have been recorded in the past, with most Kenyans dismissive of the past events, accusing such characters of blasphemy.
