TourismX, a leading Industry analytics firm based in South Africa, has released its first-ever social media index for Facebook, ranking Nairobi's top-performing hotels in audience engagement, digital influence, and content interaction.
The index for the period between January and May 2025 revealed that hotels in the city are not only competing for the best food, rooms, and services but also for digital dominance.
In an era where travel, food, and hospitality decisions are often made online through posts, social media engagements, and audience responses, a strong social media presence can make or break a hotel’s success.
The TourismX Index uses data-driven metrics to evaluate how hotels are leveraging Facebook to expand their reach, connect with potential customers, and increase online visibility.
TourismX spokesperson Gerrit Davids underscored the importance of the ranking, stating that it was not just about recognition but inspiring local hotels to lead in digital storytelling.
“These awards celebrate innovation in social media, but more importantly, they encourage Nairobi’s hospitality sector to redefine engagement in the digital space,” Davids said.
Hotels were awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze rankings based on a transparent scoring system that assessed metrics such as growth, engagement, activity, and audience interaction. Here are the awards:
