The Labour Cabinet Secretary, Alfred Mutua, has notified foreign job applicants who received job offers to present themselves for the application of Youth Fund support in various administrative offices on Friday, June 20.

In a statement on Wednesday, June 18, the CS stated that this included only the applicants from the recently concluded recruitment drive at the coast, in Malindi, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Ukunda.

"This is to notify all individuals who received offer letters during the recently concluded recruitment exercise held in Malindi, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Ukunda that they are required to report to the following locations," he stated.

Malindi residents will need to report to their District Officer's office for the drive, and so will Kilifi residents starting from 9am.

In Mombasa, the exercise will be held at Mama Ngina Drive, while in Diani and Ukunda, it will take place at the Ukunda Showground, all also at 9am.

The applicants are expected to bring with them a copy of their valid offer letter, a copy of their passport, and Ksh300 for the lawyer's notarisation fee.

The Youth Fund application forms will be provided on-site, and they will be required to provide their bank account details or be ready to open a new bank account for transmission of the funds.

Most important to note, the CS noted that the failure to fill out the Youth Fund application form would mean immediate disqualification.

The application process must also be completed on-site, and the applicants should be punctual.

Over the past few weeks, the ministry has been holding a recruitment drive in the coastal region, dangling 3,500 job opportunities in the informal sector.

They include positions for motorcycle riders, security guards, landscapers (gardeners), construction helpers, and hospitality workers.

Although the mass recruitment drive of Kenyans to work abroad has received massive backlash, the ministry continues to hold similar drives across the country.

In February, the government announced that it would offer loans of up to Ksh300,000 to Kenyans seeking jobs abroad to facilitate their travels and other expenses. The loans will be drawn from the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF).
