President William Ruto has donated Ksh1 million to the family of the late Ambassador Bob Francis Jalang'o Nyanduga
Eliud Owalo, the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, visited the family at their home in Rakombe Village, Asembo, on Thursday, August 7, to deliver the donation.
“This morning, I condoled with the family of the late Ambassador Bob Jalang’o at their home in Rakombe Village, Asembo.”
“I also delivered a support contribution of Ksh1 million from H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto to the bereaved family. May Ambassador Jalang’o’s soul rest in eternal peace,” Owalo said.
Ambassador Jalang’o, a former Kenyan diplomat and politician, passed away on July 17 at the age of 80.
His distinguished career included serving as Kenya's Permanent Representative to the United Nations agencies in Rome, and as Kenya's Ambassador to Italy, Greece, and Poland.
Prior to his diplomatic career, he was a Member of Parliament for Rarieda Constituency from 1988 to 1992.
The donation to Jalang'o’s family is part of a pattern of monetary support from President Ruto to bereaved families in 2025.
These financial pledges have been a central part of his public condolences, providing aid to a diverse group of individuals.
Among these donations was a Ksh2 million pledge made on June 16 to the family of the late blogger and teacher, Albert Ojwang', whose death in police custody was determined by an autopsy to have been caused by an assault.
The President followed this with a Ksh1 million donation on July 2 to the family of the late Boniface Kariuki, a mask vendor who was shot and fatally wounded by a police officer during anti-government protests in Nairobi.
Later that month, on July 21, President Ruto pledged another Ksh1 million to the family of comedian Zachariah Kariuki, better known as "KK Mwenyewe," who passed away after a short illness.
