ENA Coach has announced that its vehicles will experience departure delays throughout Tuesday, August 19.
In a statement released on Tuesday morning, the public transport company revealed that all buses scheduled to depart in the morning and evening would be delayed due to persistent gridlock on the Nairobi–Nakuru and Nairobi–Narok highways, which are key routes for the company.
The gridlock has reportedly delayed buses scheduled to arrive to pick up passengers.
"Dear Valued Customers, We regret to inform you that today’s departures to and from upcountry, both morning and evening, are experiencing delays due to severe traffic congestion on the Nairobi–Nakuru and Nairobi–Narok highways," the notice read in part.
Nevertheless, the bus company urged all passengers who had booked with them to remain at their designated pick-up point as scheduled.
The company also apologised to all its clients who had spent the night caught up in the chaos.
On Sunday night, thousands of motorists were left stranded for hours on the busy Nakuru–Nairobi highway, which connects Nairobi to the western part of the country.
On Sunday, the traffic jam was reported at Naivasha Prisons, extending to the Keroche area and bringing traffic to a complete halt on both sides of the highway.
The gridlock continued through Monday night, with long-distance drivers, PSV bus drivers and private vehicle drivers sharing stories of being stuck on the motorway for hours. Some people even spent the night on the roadside.
