Thousands of youths are staring at fresh job opportunities after Siaya Governor James Orengo announced the upcoming Siaya International Trade & Investment Conference (SITICO 2025) scheduled for October.
In an official statement, the governor announced that the investment conference, running from October 14 to October 17, is set to put the county in the economic spotlight as it seeks to pump millions into the county.
‘’This flagship conference will position Siaya as a key destination for investment and enterprise, translating ambition into projects that create jobs, expand markets, and improve lives,’’ Orengo announced.
The theme of the conference is ‘Positioning Siaya as an Investment Destination: Transformative Growth through Trade and Investment’, which reflects the county’s commitment to inclusive prosperity as anchored in the county’s 2023-2027 development plan.
‘’Through SITICO, we will convene investors, innovators, policy makers, and community leaders to unlock highpotential opportunities in: agriculture and the blue economy; manufacturing and value-addition; renewable energy and climate action; tourism and hospitality; health; ICT/BPОinfrastructure; education and skills; good governance; mining; and financial services,’’ the Governor said in his press briefing.
For the period, the county will host keynotes and plenaries, sector breakouts, an exhibition, B2B deal rooms, site visits to priority projects, and signature sessions dedicated to public-private partnerships.
‘’Our goal is to catalyze domestic and foreign direct investment, accelerate enterprise growth, and secure bankable commitments,’’ the governor explained.
The investment conference is promising stakeholders a pipeline of profiled projects in agroindustrial parks, rice and cotton value chains, fish and omena processing, edible oils, clean energy (solar and mini-hydro), tourism (eco-city at Lake Kanyaboli and heritage circuits), logistics (Gombe Airstrip), health, water schemes modernization, feed production, and digital services.
The governor revealed that SITICO will tighten the relationship between the county and investors and development partners.
The governor has called on all relevant stakeholders to seize the opportunity and register to exhibit, pitch, mentor, and network.
The investment comes as a major comeback for the governor, who has been off the public eye, raising concerns over his health and leadership. On Friday, the governor presided over the groundbreaking of Ukwala Sub-County Hospital Complex, Ugenya.
The facility will host radiology, theatre, lab, A&E unit, and a 50-bed maternity wing, a major boost to healthcare access for our people.
