According to Mokaya, the promotions were made based on an individual's performance and service delivery in his/her  previous positions.

The promotions are aimed at strengthening the country's judicial capacity and improving efficiency in service delivery, according to Mokaya.

Mokaya further claimed that the promotions reflect the commitment of the commission to promote high-performing officers and foster career progression across the Judiciary.

"These advancements reflect not only individual excellence and dedication, but also the commission's unwavering commitment to strengthening the rule of law, improving access to justice and service, with integrity and excellence while being accountable to the people of Kenya," the statement read.

"This milestone underscores the Commission's commitment to strengthening judicial capacity by expanding both territorial and pecuniary jurisdiction of officers to manage matters of greater value and complexity," JSC stated.

In a statement on Tuesday, July 15, the commission confirmed that 2,679 Kenyans had applied for 150 positions that were advertised by the commission through an official notice.

The application window, which closed on July 7, invited 150 applicants in different positions, including 20 High Court judges, 15 Court of Appeal judges, and 10 Environment and Land Court judges.

"The public is assured that the recruitment process will be conducted strictly in accordance with the Constitution and all applicable laws. The JSC remains firmly committed to the principles of meritocracy, fairness, transparency, and integrity in all its operations," JSC stated.
