Tied Up, Blindfolded in Car Boot: Police Rescue KWS Officer Abducted by Armed Robbers

A Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officer was rescued by police from suspected gang robbers in Kinoo, Kiambu County.

According to the police, the rescue operation followed a response to a report of a suspicious vehicle on October 6, 2025.

The officers said that when they approached the vehicle, the occupants tried to flee by driving off prompting a chase. 

In a statement, police revealed that the victim was found tied up and blindfolded in the vehicle's boot.

According to the police, the officer was travelling to Nairobi when he met with the gang. The suspects were arrested.

"Upon approaching the vehicle, its occupants attempted to flee. After a chase, two suspects were arrested," a part of police statement reads.

"A man who had been tied up and blindfolded in the vehicle’s boot was rescued and was later identified as a KWS officer travelling to Nairobi," the police said.

The KWS officer told the police that the suspects had stolen money from his wallet, although the motive for his abduction remains unknown.

Stolen Phones

According to the report by National Police Service, the robbers had been allegedly stealing and robbing passengers on that route.

During the operation, police found several stolen mobile phones from the arrested suspects. Reportedly, the suspected gang had been robbing passengers along that route.

"Investigations are ongoing, with further operations underway to apprehend additional suspects who fled the scene," police added.

NPS, however, commended officers for their prompt action to rescue the KWS officers and arrest the notorious culprits.
