The public viewing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has been moved from the Parliament Buildings to Kasarani Stadium.
His procession to the Lee Funeral Home before the public viewing has also been cancelled.
The decisions come after a huge crowd came out to escort the body of Raila from JKIA, while another trooped to Parliament.
Those who had already started queuing at Parliament have thus been advised to redirect to the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.
As such, the communication obtained by Kenyans.co.ke also indicates that heavy traffic is to be expected on Thika Road as the procession heads that way.
The viewing was expected to take place from 12 noon, as had earlier been communicated. However, the body was held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for over two hours with little to no progress.
"Due to the surge in the number of mourners, the viewing of the body of HE Raila Amolo Odinga has been moved from the Parliament Buildings to Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani," the statement by ODM read in part.
"Members of the public are advised to proceed to Kasarani, where there shall be enough space and time to view the body."
Additionally, the public viewing of the body in Kisumu on Saturday, October 18, which had been expected to take place at Moi Stadium, has also been changed to Mamboleo Showground.
The communication further revealed that more changes in the funeral schedule are to be expected.
Earlier this morning, when Raila's body landed at JKIA from Mumbai, India, members of the public breached the VIP section, deterring President William Ruto from formally receiving it.
The procession, which was expected in Parliament by 12 noon, has since suffered delays as thousands of Kenyans stormed the airport for the reception.
Tomorrow, October 17, the fallen political giant will be granted a state funeral by the government at Nyayo Stadium. The day has been declared a public holiday.
On Saturday, he will be airlifted to Kisumu for the public viewing at Momboleo Stadium, before his burial at his Bondo home on Sunday.
