Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka Cancels UK Trip to Attend Raila Odinga’s Funeral

Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoko has cancelled his planned engagements in the United Kingdom to return to Kenya for the funeral of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

In a statement on October 16, from his secretariat, Zein Abubakar, said that Kalonzo has departed from Heathrow International Airport in London. 

He added that Musyoka will be expected to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 6am.

“The Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) Leader HE Dr Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, EGH, SC, CS, has departed from Heathrow International Airport (HIA), London, United Kingdom, for Nairobi, Kenya.”

“The WPF Leader is expected to arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Friday, October 17, 202,5, at 6:00 AM EAT,” the statement reads.

Upon arrival, Kalonzo will join the family of Raila, friends and Kenyans to mourn and pay their last respects.

Ten-Day Visit

On October 2, Kalonzo announced that he was to visit the UK for a ten-day visit on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

His trip came after he was endorsed, by his party, as a presidential aspirant.

He was expected to engage with high-profile institutions, members of the Kenyan diaspora and policy makers in a series of events ahead of Kenya’s 2027 General Election.

He was to attend a series of events that highlight his growing domestic and international momentum ahead of Kenya’s 2027 General Election.

Senator Abdalla Shakila said that Kalonzo had also organized a meeting with the Commonwealth Secretariat.

“This visit is part of Wiper’s ongoing strategy to build international partnerships, elevate Kenya’s global presence, and engage Kenyans abroad on critical issues including governance, economic empowerment, and national renewal,” Abdalla said.
