KeNHA Announces Closure of Magadi Road From Bomas to Catholic University Junction For Six Weeks

Kenya National Highways Authority( KeNHA) has announced that Bomas - Kiserian road will be closed for six weeks.

In a statement by KeNHA, on November 16, the road will be shut down on Monday, October 20 to December 1, 2025.

According to the authority, the road closure is meant to allow for the construction of two new box culverts.

The sections affected by closure will be from Galleria/Brookhouse to the Junction near tCatholic University of Eastern Africa.

Motorists are urged to use the alternative during the closure period.

Motorists are asked to follow the suggested alternative route, which involves using Langata Road, Langata South Road, Kiboko Road, Banda Lane and Magadi Road.

Alternatively, they can use Langata Road, Langata South Road and Kiboko Road, followed by Mukoma Road and Magadi Road (near Shell petrol station).

The acting Director General of KeNHA, Luka Kimeli, advised motorists to follow the police marshals' instructions to ensure traffic runs smoothly.

Motorists were also urged to plan their journeys in advance to avoid congestion in the area.

This closure follows the announcement by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) on October 15 of a 17-day temporary closure of a section of Likoni Road in Nairobi to allow for rehabilitation works.

According to KURA, this section of road will be closed from October 15 to 31 as part of the Urban Road Improvement Programme.

KURA advised motorists to use the Outer Ring Road, Lunga Lunga Road, Enterprise Road and Lusaka Road as an alternative route.
