Cabinet Secretaries Aden Duale, Julius Ogamba, and Davis Chirchir have made a series of new appointments and re-appointments to state boards and university councils.
Health CS Duale, in a notice published in the gazette notice, announced that he has appointed five new members to the Kenya Board of Mental Health, including Linett Ongeri, Simon Githui, Harun Hassan, and Dennis Wamalwa, for a three-year term.
In addition, Duale reappointed Beatrice Maingi to the same board for another three-year term. He also reappointed Isha Anand and Bernard Kimutai Maiyo as members of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
Further, Duale also announced that he had made new appointments to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, including Maurice K’Odhiambo, Tadudi Aly Omar, and Serah Mutu Kisilu, with all appointees set to serve three-year terms.
The board members will play a crucial role in supporting KPPB in its mandate as the national regulator responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and effectiveness of medicines, medical devices, and pharmaceutical services in Kenya.
Additionally, they will oversee licensing and inspections of pharmacies, hospitals, and laboratories, register pharmaceutical professionals, and regulate the manufacture and distribution of medicines.
His Transport counterpart, CS Chirchir, has appointed Anne Njeri Gitau as a member of the Aeronautical Search and Rescue Committee for a one-year term.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by regulation 15 (2) (m) of the Civil Aviation (Aeronautical Search and Rescue) Regulations, the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport appoints Anne Njeri itau – to be a Member of the Aeronautical Search and Rescue Committee for a period of one (1) year with effect from the 7th November, 2025,” read part of the notice.
On the education front, CS Ogamba appointed Charles Momanyi and Irene Chebet Chesire as members of the Council of Alupe University, each for a three-year term.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) of the Universities Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints, under paragraph (d), Charles Momanyi (Dr) and Irene Chebet Chesire to be Members of the Council of the Alupe University for a period of three (3) years, with effect from November 7, 2025.”
The two appointees will help the institution by providing strategic direction and oversight as part of the university council, which is the highest governing body of the institution.
At the same time, they will participate in setting policies, approving statutes, and ensuring the university complies with national laws and regulations.
