The government has issued a warning over sections of Nairobi roads that residents should avoid due to the heavy rains wrecking havoc in the city.
The National Transport and Safety Authority and Kenya National Highway Authority have singled out 15 roads including: Lang'ata Road at T-Mall, Jogoo Road near the Makadara Law Courts and James Gichuru Road at Olenguruone Junction and near Convent Drive junction.
The two bodies have also listed Lang'ata South Road at Tangaza College and near Lang'ata Road, Lower Kabete/Brookside Drive junction and Lenana Road next to Department of Defence (DoD) gate as other risky areas to avoid.
Motorists and other road users have also been advised to avoid using Muhoho Road/Popo Road Junction, Muhoho Road at Ngong River crossing, Lusaka Road, and Baricho Road.
According to a statement from the authorities, other blacklisted sections are Jakaya Kikwete Road, Marcus Garvey/Chania Avenue junction and Kipevu/Ushirika Road junction.
The caution was issued as Kenyans continue to feel the effects of the heavy downpour that has been flooding streets and estates, causing traffic snarl ups and accidents which have led to casualties.
Over the past week, more than 25 people have lost their lives in different incidents across the City. On Friday, four people were killed after a section of the DoD wall collapsed.
