Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero Offers Jobs to Inmates at Nairobi West Prison

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has offered jobs to inmates at Nairobi West Prison after visiting the facility.

Governor Kidero stated that the County had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the prison, that will see it inject manpower to the county.

He stated that under the programme which will be signed by the county and the prison commissioner next week, rehabilitated inmates will be employed at City Hall to get them reintegrated back to society.

The Governor noted that he had been impressed by the rehabilitation work at the correctional facility adding that the inmates needed opportunities after they serve their jail terms.

“We’ll recruit released inmates into our work force through the agreement. We’ll do this to ensure the released inmates are engaged and therefore avoid crime in future,” revealed Kidero.

He added that he looked forward to a bright and productive future in the engagement with the prison, to ensure that the inmates become productive and assist in nation building.

Kidero also called on the inmates to exercise their democratic right and take part in the forthcoming August polls.
