Ezekial Mutua Urges State to Form Police Unit that Will Crack Down on Child Pornography

The Kenya Film Classissification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekial Mutua has urged the government to create a police task that will crack down on child pornography.

Mutua noted that to effectively crack down on the pornography industry, KFCB needed to have prosecutorial powers and a special police unit that can detect, investigate and prosecute child porn cases because the vice had reached an alarming level in the country.

"Of the 26 cases of child pornography that we have reported in the past three years, none of them has been concluded with the culprits going about their business as usual,"  he emphasised

Mr Mutua stated that due to weak laws foreigner were having an easy time in Kenya making illegal films and selling them abroad earning millions of dollars.

"We are talking to children as young as 12 years who are being introduced to child pornography by foreigners. These children are exploited in this business worth billions of dollars," he stated

He further reiterated that the vice must be confronted with the same vigor the government was using to deal with drug trafficking and terrorism in the Country.
