President Uhuru Kenyatta Mourns Killing of 19 in Explosion at Ariana Grande's Concert in Manchester, UK

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday eulogised 19 people who were killed after an explosion rocked a concert held by US singer Ariana Grande in Manchester, UK, on Monday.

President Kenyatta stated that Kenyans were united in grief with the families who lost their loved ones in the tragedy and the people of the UK during this trying time.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the United Kingdom after the tragic incident in Manchester last night.

"Kenya knows what it is like to suffer a tragedy such as this, so our hearts go out to the U.K., and especially to the families which have woken to the devastating news this morning.

"We share a long history with the UK; we remain allies and partners. I have assured the Prime Minister, Rt Hon Theresa May, that she will have any help we can give; and that we will stand with her and with her country in the fight against extremism," stated Kenyatta.

According to the BBC, the explosion went off at around 10.30 pm with 19 confirmed fatalities and 59 others rushed to hospitals for treatment.

Responding to the incident, May stated that the incident was being treated as a terrorist attack and that authorities were working to establish the details of the blast.

A position reiterated by Home Secretary Amber Rudd, who said that the explosion was a barbaric attack, deliberately targeting some of the most vulnerable in the UK society.

A visibly shocked Grande tweeted that she was heartbroken after the incident and lost for words.
