During his tenure, Kenya has raised its profile in the global platform by hosting influential world leaders.

Among those who visited the country during Kenyatta's reign are former US President Barack Obama, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Pope Francis.

Kenya has also hosted several global meetings as the nation seeks to assert itself as a regional powerhouse.

Among the conferences held in Nairobi were the Global Entrepreneurship Summit and the Tokyo International Conference of African Development (TICAD).

However, Kenya's international diplomacy suffered a huge blow early this year when Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed failed to clinch the African Union Commission Chairperson seat.
