Rift Valley Leaders Endorse NASA Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga

National Super Alliance (NASA) charm offensive in the Rift Valley seems to be bearing fruits after a team of leaders from the region declared that they would throw their weight behind its flag bearer Raila Odinga.

The elders, drawn from Talai, Keiyo, Nandi and Kipsigis made the declaration after a closed-door meeting in Kisumu in which they also performed a unity ceremony.

They further resolved to attend a NASA public rally in Kapsabet on June 4 where they will officially launch the vote hunt for NASA at the grassroots level.

Head of the Nandi elders delegation, Christopher Koiyoke, declared that the meeting marked the beginning of better working relationships between the communities.

“We have buried the hatchet and want to renew our working relationship with our Luo brothers as witnessed in the run up to the 2007 General Election,” he said.

In 2007, Odinga received overwhelming support from Rift Valley when he vied for the Presidency on an ODM ticket.

The elders vowed to achieve the same in the coming elections.

This will be considered as a big victory for Odinga given that the leaders come from Rift Valley where the Deputy President William Ruto enjoys massive support.
