Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Soldiers Kill 14 Al-Shabaab Militants in Abdidore

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers killed 14 Al-Shabaab militants over the weekend in Abdidore, Somalia, just hours after the terror group launched another attack on Kulbiyow.

Among those killed was a mid-level Al-Shabaab commander and according to sources, the militants had used two vehicles laden with explosives to try and gain entry into the KDF camp.

Their efforts were, however, thwarted by the Kenyan soldiers who unleashed heavy artillery on them, killing 14.

During the attack in Kulbiyow on Saturday, heavily armed fighters of the Al-Shabaab launched a coordinated overnight assault at a KDF military base in the town of Kulbiyow in Lower Jubba region.

The militants and the Kenyan soldiers engaged in a deadly gunfight that raged on until morning and the number of casualties remain unconfirmed.

In a statement posted on its affiliated websites, the militant group said its fighters had briefly seized the base from the Kenyan forces in Kulbiyow town and pulled back from it before dawn.

Last week, two teachers went missing after suspected Al-Shabaab militants attacked and burnt a school in Fafi, Garissa County.

According to sources, the militants, armed with small arms and explosives razed the school in the overnight attack.

They reportedly targeted and vandalised a mobile communication mast in the area.
