KANU Aspirant James Ratemo Whose 3 Children Were Brutally Killed in Eldoret Cleared to Vie by IEBC

Kapsoya Ward aspirant James Ratemo, whose three children were brutally murdered last month, has declared that he will go ahead to vie in the upcoming elections despite the painful and unfortunate loss that befell his family.

According to family lawyer Charles Nyamweya, Mr Ratemo was cleared by the IEBC after he presented his papers to the commission.

Nyamweya stated that Ratemo had decided to go ahead and vie for the seat in honour of his three children who disappeared under mysterious circumstances and later found dead.

"He is in the race and will be contesting for the Kapsoya MCA seat as he had planned before the killing of the children," said Nyamweya.

He also confirmed that the three children, Clifford Nyamweya, Dan Nyamweya and Glen Ongaki would be buried in Kisii on Friday after the County Government of Uasin Gishu declined to issue them with a burial permit.

The county had through county executive for health Margaret Chepkwony, declined an application by Ratemo's family to bury the three in their Eldoret home stating that the county does not allow such burials within the town as per the law.

Uasin Gishu DCI boss Patrick Kiswii told a local daily that a team of more than 10 officers from the special crimes unit had intensified a search for a third suspect in the murder of the three after they nabbed the uncle to the children Enock Onsase.

They are reportedly combing urban areas and villages in the region to trace the suspect including the towns of Eldoret, Trans Nzoia, Kakamega and Bungoma counties.

The bodies of the three were retrieved separately from River Nzoia on May 18. The children had been strangled before being drowned.
