Woman Dies After Narc-Kenya Aspirant Mohamed Abdi Convoy is Attacked in Mandera

A woman was on Tuesday killed after unknown gunmen opened fire on a vehicle belonging to Narc-Kenya Mandera North Parliamentary aspirant, Mohamed Abdi.

According to reports, Abdi’s convoy was attacked by unknown gunmen at Jabi along the Rahmu- Bambo West Road in Mandera.

It is not clear who carried out the attack.

The incident, however, comes amidst heightened security over the rise of Al-Shabaab attacks in the area as well as neighbouring counties.

Last month, five security officers attached to Mandera Governor Ali Roba were killed after their vehicle ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) between Arabia and Fino area.

The officers were part of Governor Roba’s security team and were escorting him for a campaign in Lafey when the incident occurred.

“I would like to inform the general public that the other leaders and I are safe. Unfortunately, I lost five of my security officers including my personal bodyguard at an attack on my convoy between Arabia and Fino at around 1 pm,” said Roba in a statement.

In another incident after the attack on Roba’s convoy, two teachers reportedly went missing in Garissa County after Al-Shabab militants attacked and razed down a school.
