Lugari MP Ayub Savula Dares The Police to Arrest Him Over Plans to Lead Demonstration Against the Killing of Mumias Manager Ronald Lubya

Lugari MP Ayub Savula has dared the police to arrest him over his planned protest on Sunday against the killing of Mumias Sugar Company Legal Affairs Manager Ronald Lubya.

Speaking to a local daily, Savula vowed not to back down from his planned demonstration with farmers even after police threatened to arrest him.

He revealed that he had received calls and messages from senior police officers in Lugari and Kakamega, warning him of dire consequences if he went to Mumias.

“They said I should not dare leave Lugari for Mumias or Kakamega because I will be arrested. Right now a team of officers has barricaded Lugari-Kakamega road to stop me from heading to Mumias," he stated in Eldoret.

He insisted that he would not be silenced for defending the rights of his people as that was his duty as their leader.

The legislator claimed that the police officers were acting on orders by Jubilee politicians sabotaging the economy of Western Kenya.

Savula alleged that powerful cartels were responsible for the killing of the legal officer whom he said were behind the company's woes.

“Lubya opposed importation of sugar from Brazil, and repackaging of the same locally, and refused to sign a deal to give some politicians Sh10 million each from the company for campaigns," he reiterated.

Lubya was shot dead in his house by a gang of unknown men at Lukusi village, Matungu sub-county in what opposition leaders blamed the government for the killing, claiming that the secretary refused to bow to pressure to sign a deal for illegal sugar importation.
