President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned donors against funding his campaigns while at the same time donating to the opposition.
Speaking during the fundraiser organised by the Friends of Jubilee Foundation who raised at least Sh1 billion, President Kenyatta asked the donors to exclusively fund Jubilee.
Kenyatta stated that it was an act of bad faith for the donors to offer the millions to his campaigns then support the opposition under the table.
“You must believe in something and support it. I know some of you say they don’t want to be associated with politics and want to pass their support under the table,” stated Kenyatta.
He pinned that if the donors had decided to back his re-election bid they should do so whole-heartedly and openly.
“They are acting as if they do not believe in something because, if they did, they would openly come out in support of the Jubilee government achievements for Kenya,” added Kenyatta.
The president noted that he had warned donors against visiting State House in secret to offer support and would not entertain such transactions under the cover f darkness.
“Tunajua vile wengine wanafanya, unaweka kidogo hapa na kidogo pale...Nimewaambia mpotee and mpotee kabisa!" Reiterated the President (We know what some are doing, you put a little here and a little there, I told them to get lost)
The exclusive dinner reportedly raised at least Sh1 billion in less than two hours that was also attended by Deputy William Ruto.
