Raila Odinga Ordered to File Submissions Seeking Anne Waiguru's Lifestyle Information Within 14 Days

National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga has been ordered to file submissions seeking lifestyle information from former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.

Odinga was directed by High Court Joseph Sergon to submit the documents within 14 days to enable the progress of the case.

If he fails to do so, the court ruled that the case would progress without Odinga's application - in which he is seeking the lifestyle information - being considered.

The order was given in defamation case where Waiguru sued the ODM chief for linking her to the infamous National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

In her response, the Kirinyaga gubernatorial candidate questioned the motive behind Odinga's application affirming that she would not disclose her earnings.

"The defendant having defamed the plaintiff in the absence of any factual matrix now seeks through interrogatories to shift the burden of proof through a fishing expedition," reads Waiguru's papers.

She claimed that Odinga's demands were a diversionary tactic to ensure that her defamation case is delayed.

According to Waiguru, the amount of money she earned as a Cabinet Secretary can be sourced from the Salaries and Remuneration Commission hence she should not be asked to declare her earnings.

The ODM leader moved to court after Waiguru sued him, asking her to provide details on her basic salary, allowances, how she spent her earnings and the properties she owned.
