Several Injured Fighting For Free Money Thrown by Politician in Kitui

Several people were on Friday injured after they engaged in a nasty fist fight as they scrambled for a bundle of cash dished out by a group of politicians at Kulundu area in Kitui.

According to witnesses, the fight for the free money ensued after a group of over 10 politicians visited the area drumming up support for President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The politicians were reportedly forced to end their rally prematurely after they were met by a hostile crowd.

The youth reportedly became uncontrollable forcing the pro-Jubilee politicians to retreat to their chopper that was on standby.

Chaos, however, started after one politician in a bid to distract the youth as they retreated, threw a bundle of cash at them.

What followed was a mad rush as the youth got into a frenzy with fists and blows scrambling to have a piece of the cash.

The chopper, 5Y-NMJ, meanwhile got in the air and flew off leaving the youth to battle it out.

The injured were rushed to the hospital.

A Jubilee team led by Senator Johnsone Sakaja and Gatundu MP Moses Kuria was this week forced to cut short their campaign in the area after residents became hostile.

The agitated crowd shouted down the leaders chanting National Super Alliance (NASA) slogans.
