Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria's Opponent Joyce Ngugi Pulls Out of Race

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is now on a clear path to re-election after his major opponent for the seat, Joyce Ngugi, pulled out of the race.

Speaking after being received at the Kiambu Jubilee Party offices on Saturday, Ms Ngugi stated that she had withdrawn her candidature to oust Kuria and would instead campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ngugi, an independent candidate, denied claims that she had been paid or coerced into dropping out in favour of Jubilee Party candidate, Kuria.

"It was my choice to drop my bid as an independent candidate and join the Uhuru's campaign team," Ngugi said.

She said that she had listened to the voice of her supporter including her family and decided to rescind her position to support the president.

"Being the president's home, I saw it wise to set aside my ambitions and mobilise people to vote on August 8."

While receiving her at the Jubilee offices, Kiambu governor aspirant Ferdinand Waititu lauded Ngugi’s decision as the way to go.

"It is great that those who had gone to independent are returning back home. This is the way to go...Let them come back to Jubilee so that we work together for wananchi," said Waititu.

Waititu urged those who lost in the primaries and are vying as independents to respect the will of the people.

Ngugi, however, fell shot of endorsing Kuria.
