Moses Kuria and Other Jubilee Leaders Face Hostile Reception in Nyamira, Cut Short Campaign Rally

A Jubilee campaign team led by Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria was yesterday humiliated in Nyamira after as they attempted to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Trouble started when Kuria took to the stage to outline the achievements of the Jubilee administration as a way of encouraging voters to re-elect President Kenyatta.  His voice was drowned by chants of "NASA (National Super Alliance) and Unga" as the agitated crowd told him off.

The team has also been citing key government officials from the various regions and promising that should the voters elect Jubilee, more of their sons and daughters would be appointed to serve in the government.

The crowd in Nyamira could hear none of that from the team led by Kuria, Isaac Mwaura and Kipipiri Parliamentary aspirant Amos Kimunya.  The crowd became hostile, motioning the Jubilee brigade to go away and verbally attacking them.

The crowd went into a frenzy with the meeting almost breaking into chaos when Kuria stated that Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi had failed to clinch the presidency seven times in their previous attempts.

A reporter with a regional radio station who attended the event confirmed that the team hurriedly packed and sped off as the agitated crowd became hostile.

The team campaigning under the banner " Mbele Iko Sawa" was not prepared for the reception they got.

Fearing that the meeting would degenerate into a physical confrontation, the team reportedly cut short the rally and drove off.

This came on the same day that Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery disclosed that police would arrest those who heckle during political rallies.
