Former Bondo MP Oburu Odinga Asks International Criminal Court (ICC) to Prosecute Joseph Nkaissery Over 1984 Wagalla Massacre

Nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Oburu Odinga has asked the International Criminal Court (ICC) to prosecute Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery over the 1984 Wagalla massacre.

He claimed that Nkaissery, who at the time was a military general, was responsible for the killing of more than 5,000 people.

Oburu, who is Raila Odinga’s elder brother, further revealed that the Interior Secretary’s link to the massacre was the reason why he ditched the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

“The Wagalla massacre killings are part of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report that forced Nkaissery to ditch ODM when we started pushing for its implementation,” he stated.

Oburu claimed that Nkaissery should also be investigated by the ICC for his alleged involvement in extrajudicial killings.

He warned the Interior CS against issuing threats against the NASA flag bearer, maintaining that Raila is not on a level to be toyed with.

“The Jubilee government is in panic mode because they know the TJRC report is some of what Raila will implement when he ascends to power,” he explained.

He accused the Jubilee government of applying the law in favour of their politicians as National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria had not been indicted for their public hate remarks.
