Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko Forgives Peter Kenneth for Claiming DP Ruto Helped Rig Jubilee Nominations

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has forgiven gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth for linking Deputy President William Ruto to rigging.

Speaking during a campaign rally on Thursday, Sonko blasted his counterpart in the governorship race for claiming that Ruto helped influence the Jubilee Party nominations in his favour.

Sonko criticised the former Gatanga Member of Parliament (MP) for “concentrating on irrelevant matters” adding that his remarks were disrespectful to the DP.

The Senator further accused Kenneth of being against President Uhuru Kenyatta during the 2013 General Election yet the Head of State welcomed him in the Jubilee Party.

“I have forgiven you Mr PK with your pride and arrogance. We know you as a spoiler because you fought President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013 but we still forgave you and welcomed you into our party,” he stated.

The Jubilee governorship nominee announced that Kenneth should focus on an issue-based campaign rather than concentrate on blaming Ruto for his loss in the nominations.

He further urged the former MP and incumbent Governor Evans Kidero to avoid inciting their followers for the August elections to be peaceful.

“If all of us – myself, yourself and Evans Kidero – incite our followers, that will amount to inciting violence in Nairobi,” asserted Sonko.

On Wednesday, Kenneth, described the Senator as a project of the DP claiming that Ruto had helped rig the April primaries.

Addressing a group of supporters in Kariobangi South, he added that the move was aimed at finishing him politically.

“Sonko was being helped by one person who wanted to chop off our limbs. We know very well that he is a project of Mr Ruto and that is the person who was helping him at the party headquarters on the nominations day,” alleged Kenneth.

The 2013 presidential aspirant lost to the Senator in the Jubilee primaries, an election he termed shambolic.

He later joined the Kenya Alliance of Independent Candidates (KAIC) announcing that he would still be on the ballot come August to battle it out with Sonko and Kidero.
