Nairobi CID Boss Nicholas Kamwende Facing Arrest for Contempt of Court

A warrant of arrest has been issued against Nairobi CID Boss Nicholas Kamwende after he failed to comply with a court order to release a passport belonging to a German National.

Mr Kamwende is reported to have unlawfully detained Richard Boack's passport denying him a chance to apply for a visa before the passport expired.

"The officer has contemptuously disobeyed the order of the court dated May 26, 2017," a lawyer stated.

The warrant is to be executed by June 28, 2017.

Earlier on, Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery had ordered that Boak be deported for allegedly conning people using fake gold.

Boak went to court to block the orders accusing the Kenyan police of maliciously withholding his passport so that he is deported.

His affidavit read in part, "I have been living in Kenya on a valid visa and currently staying with my girlfriend at the Deep West Resort. The averment that the police obtained yellow nuggets which appeared to resemble gold in my possession is not true as that alleged evidence was not presented before the court."

On May 11, the police requested permission from the court to detain the German for 14 days but the application was dismissed.
