The 2022 presidential bid of NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka2022 presidential bid is in doubt after a Nyanza lobby group disowned him.
The Luo Voters forum declared the Wiper Party leader as an enemy of the people and vowed to cripple his 2022 presidency bid.
The leader of the forum, Charles Otieno, through an open letter to media houses, stated that the community was not part of the NASA coalition’s Memorandum of Understanding signed by the five opposition leaders.
"We were prompted to convene this lobby by the fact that after being cheated in the nominations, the Luo community which has suffered most during violence is again being mobilised by the same fraudsters for another round of confrontation," he declared.
Otieno also accused NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga of not protecting his people, noting that the Luo community was most affected by the 2007/8 post-election violence that left at least 1,300 dead and more than 600,000 people displaced from their homes.
"The Luo community lost heavily but after joining the coalition government with Mwai Kibaki and becoming the Prime Minister, Raila forgot Luo IDPs. Most of whom were integrated," he explained.
The leader observed that politicians were already aware of what would happen during the elections and had started taking their relatives away from potential violence hotspots.
The lobby group also stated that they would not follow Mr Odinga’s six-piece voting plan but would instead campaign for independent candidates.
