Raila Odinga Warned Against Endorsing Candidates During NASA Campaigns in Vihiga County

Politicians in Vihiga County have cautioned National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga against endorsing any candidate during his campaign rallies in the region.

The Chairman of the independent candidates in the region, Victor Mwanga, warned the opposition chief to avoid campaigning for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) aspirants.

"When Raila comes to Vihiga, let him campaign for the presidency. He should not endorse anyone,” he stated.

The chairman of more than 100 members was speaking on Friday in a hotel in Mbale where he assured that they would attend NASA rallies.

The same was echoed by Yusuf Chanzu who is vying for Vihiga governorship under the Amani National Congress (ANC), who also cautioned the former Prime Minister not to endorse ODM politicians and allow a fair playing field for all candidates.

"We are not fighting for space anywhere else. The presidency has been handed to ODM by consensus and it, therefore, calls for ANC to be allowed to run for the other seats without undue competition here in Vihiga," he urged.

He was addressing reports that Mr Odinga would endorse his rival Emuhaya MP Wilbur Ottichilo's candidacy for the governorship who is running under the ODM party ticket.

Odinga and his campaign team are scheduled to camp in the county on Saturday where he hopes to bag the region’s more than 200,000 votes.

The NASA campaign teams had earlier been split into two to cover more areas with principals Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) and Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto (CCM) leading the teams.
