400 Jubille Party Nomination Losers in Uasin Gishu Demand Fresh List of Nominees

More than 400 Jubilee Party aspirants from Uasin Gishu County who lost during nominations have threatened to withdraw support for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

Addressing the press in Eldoret, the team led by Moiben Parliamentary Aspirant and Spokesman Phillip Chebunet claimed that the list of politicians proposed for nominations was dominated by girlfriends and relatives of party officials and powerful politicians in the region.

"We cannot accept the list that is full of 'mipango ya kando' (girlfriends) and friends of some people yet those of us who worked for the party, and even paid nomination fees, have been left out,"  Chebunet lamented.

He added, "If they don’t consider our grievances, we will withdraw our support for party candidates and advise our supporters to make different decisions."

The team asked President Kenyatta and DP Ruto to intervene, adding that they would go to court if the list of nomination winners was not withdrawn and a fresh list agreed upon.

The politicians noted that they had paid a total of Sh45 Million ahead of the primaries and that it was unfair for strangers to be taking centre stage in Jubilee matters.

Jubilee Party Chairman Sammy Ruto, however, denied the claim that the nominees' list was composed of politicians' girlfriends and relatives.

Meanwhile, a group of over 5,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from DP Ruto's backyard of Nandi County has threatened to vote out President Kenyatta.

The IDPs, while speaking to a local daily on Monday, vowed to vote against Uhuru and Ruto if the Jubilee government does not compensate them before the August 8th General Election.
