Raila Odinga Should Come Pick His Collapsed Bridge - Ababu Namwamba Declares

Budalang'i Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba on Tuesday launched a new attack on Opposition Leader Raila Odinga over the collapsed Sigiri bridge.

Speaking at the site of the collapsed bridge, the Labour Party leader noted that it was unfortunate for Raila to politicise the incident yet many people had been affected.

Mr Namwamba criticised the ODM leader stating that he dragged politics into every Jubilee project.

He (Namwamba) cited the former Prime Minister's remarks on Monday where he stated that he was the brains behind the Sigiri building and asked him to come and collect the remains of the collapsed project.

"I am told Raila was here yesterday and that he said this bridge belongs to him. He claimed this bridge was his brainchild and that he is the one who drew the plan. Let him come and carry it to where he goes," Namwamba stated.

The former ODM Secretary-General urged residents to remain calm stating that construction of the bridge would be completed before the end of the year.

The legislator made the remarks in response to Raila who on Monday blasted President Uhuru Kenyatta for commissioning "shoddy work".

According to Raila, the project was being hurried for political mileage ahead of the August 8 polls hence the collapse.

Odinga criticised the quality of the bridge and the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), stating that all Jubilee projects were ticking time bombs.

Two weeks ago, President Kenyatta together with Deputy President William Ruto inspected the site and promised to have the project completed as soon as possible.
