2017 Nairobi Governor Candidates Debate Scheduled for Thursday Organized by KARA

Kenya Alliance of the Residential Association (KARA) will be hosting a debate for the 2017 Nairobi gubernatorial candidates on Thursday morning.

Candidates who have confirmed their attendance include incumbent Dr Evans Kidero of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Senator Mike Sonko of the Jubilee party, Michael Mutinda of the Agano Party, independent candidates Godfrey Wanyoike and Miguna Miguna.

Former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth was yet to confirm his attendance by Wednesday evening, however, his media liaison conveyed a great likelihood of him attending.

KARA's Programmes Coordinator Nancy Kariuki assured that the candidates have been adequately prepared and briefed on the rules of engagement.

Ms Kariuki further asserted that the organizers did not anticipate that the debate would get out of hand, given the altercations that have previously been witnessed between the various candidates.

"We are not expecting any chaos as the leaders will be tomorrow morning coached on how to conduct the debate in a civilised manner," Ms Kariuki told journalists on Wednesday.

The debate is scheduled to kick off at 8.30am and end at 11.30am at the Crowne Plaza Hotel where members of the association will enter for free and non-members will be required to part with Sh2000 to witness the epic showdown.
