Coast Jubilee Leaders Demand a Meting with President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto in 72-Hours

Coast Jubilee Leaders have given President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto 72 hours to meet them failure to which Jubilee would lose their support.

The leaders led by Mombasa County Jubilee Chairperson Matano Chengo expressed frustration in the matter the party was handling them and the Jubilee campaigns in the region.

Mr Chengo mentioned that political brokers from Nairobi were interfering with Jubilee campaigns in the region, giving false information to party leaders Uhuru and Ruto.

“Only a month is left to the elections...we will not be left behind. If we will not have met the President after 72 hours, we will meet here again to give the way forward," Chengo stated.

The leaders further noted that Jubilee aspirants were blocking them from meeting the President and airing their views on Coast matters.

“Coast politics is unique. It is not like in Nairobi or Rift Valley. We know our people best and are better placed to give reports on what is actually on the ground,” Chengo mentioned.

According to the party officials,  most Jubilee candidates at the Coast were only using the President and the party for their selfish gains but did not have the party's interest at heart.

“People surrounding the President whenever he comes to the Coast are not selling the party or the President when they go to the campaign. They sell themselves as individuals," one of the officials noted.

The leaders made the remarks on Saturday at the Jubilee Coast headquarters in Nyali.
