President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto on Wednesday received a share of criticism on social media after posting a video while inspecting the Digital Learning Programme.
The two were on a tour of Machakos county where they visited Kathithyamaa Primary school in Kangundo to inspect the Programme.
During the tour, Kenyatta assured that his administration would continue providing facilities to boost the quality of education in the country.
“We will continue supporting the digital learning programme until all the 23,951 public primary schools are supplied with the devices. Digital content for class one and two has already been developed and pupils are accessing it through the devices,” President Kenyatta assured.
He said all primary schools are also currently being connected to the fibre optic cable to ensure internet connectivity that will boost the Programme.
The President later, through his Facebook account, posted a video while engaging pupils who were learning with the government tablets.
The video attracted dozens of negative comments from a number of netizens who accused the two of using the Programme for political gains.
Others bashed the Jubilee administration for promising laptops only for them to deliver the tablets which are yet to be supplied to all schools.
However, a number of social media users supported the government maintaining that it had delivered on its promises and would be re-elected come August.
