NASA Leader Raila Odinga Warns President Uhuru Kenyatta Against Rigging the August Elections

The National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga on Tuesday warned President Uhuru Kenyatta against plots to rig the August election.

Speaking at his Capitol Hill offices, Mr Odinga noted that President Kenyatta “had realised he is going to lose” and warned him “not to dare think of rigging”.

The former Prime Minister claimed that different security forces had been undergoing training to help the President cling to power.

According to Mr Odinga, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Kenya Forest Service and prison warders, as well as the Army, are being trained ahead of the polls.

He, however, noted that NASA was ready to protect their vote against any electoral malpractices.

“Having had the experience of two very tainted elections, we are fully prepared to protect our vote and avoid electoral theft. We wish to warn him again not to even dare think of rigging the forthcoming election. Mr President, don’t ruin our country for your selfish interests,” Odinga stated.

The ODM leader further claimed that President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto had sensed defeat and decided to use“intemperate and uncouth language”, attacking NASA and the Judiciary.

“President Kenyatta appears to be preparing to reject election results because he now knows he will lose. Do not destroy our democracy. Do not overthrow our Constitution,” he stated.

The Opposition chief accused Jubilee of worsening the standards of living stating that the country had not seen any improvement in the economy under President Kenyatta's administration.

He assured that Kenyans would have a change on August 9th if they elect NASA to form the next government.

“Food and all other commodities are out of reach for ordinary people. Kenyans in every region are suffering and want change. Change they will have on August 9 when they wake up to a new Kenya. President Kenyatta, please prepare to accept defeat,” Mr Odinga noted.
