Former Ambassador Bethuel Kiplagat Dies at a Nairobi Hospital

Former Ambassador Bethuel Kiplagat has died.

The former Truth Justice and Reconciliation Committee (TJRC) Chairman died at a Nairobi hospital aged 81 after a long illness.

His body has since been moved to the Lee Funeral home.

Prior to his death, Ambassador Kiplagat served the country in several senior positions.

The former diplomat served in former President Daniel Arap Moi’s government as Kenya's ambassador to France, high commissioner to Britain, and permanent secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 13 years (1978-1991)

His most recent job was chairing the TJRC which he resigned from in 2012.

Kiplagat becomes the fourth high-profile individual to pass on this month after Laikipia Senator GG Kariuki, Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and veteran politician and former Minister Nicholas Biwott.
